Jol won´t let Johnson go cheaply

Martin Jol admits Andrew Johnson could be sold before his contract expires – but only if Fulham receive a suitable offer.

The striker’s current deal expires at the end of the season and it has been reported that the Cottagers may want to cash in on the 30-year-old now, with QPR reportedly having a two-million-pound bid rejected.

Jol has indicated that he wants to hold on to the forward but will listen to more substantial offers, while conceding if he does not sign a new deal the player will be allowed to leave at the end of the season.

“What’s the point for us – for Fulham, for my club – to sell a player for that sort of money?” the manager said before Saturday’s 4-0 win over Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup.

“To get somebody will cost a lot more money so for me there is no problem.”

“He is still under contract so we have to wait and see.”

“If somebody wants him they have to pay a good transfer fee so we can buy another good player.”

“It would not be best for us to sell him to whatever club for a lower fee.”

“Of course he will stay here and if he is not signing he can leave at the end of the season.”

The former Everton striker, signed for 10.5 million pounds in August 2008, has so far only scored three times in 14 games in the league this season, but has a better return of five from seven in Europe.
