Newcastle United will struggle to sign Jonathan David in the January transfer window, according to Football Insider. David is out of contract at Lille at the end of the season, and although his club would consider cashing in on the forward in January, the player himself wants to stay put and explore his options as a free agent next summer.
David will turn down any advances in the January transfer window. This means that despite wanting to sign the forward in the January transfer window, Newcastle will have to wait until next summer to convince the Canada international forward to sign for him.
However, Newcastle are not the only club who are keen on securing the services of David on a free transfer in the summer of 2025. Clubs in Serie A and La Liga are also interested in the 24-year-old. David has scored 13 goals and given two assists in 21 matches in all competitions so far this season. During the 2023-24 campaign, the forward found the back of the net 26 times and provided nine assists in 47 games in all competitions.
