Jonathan de Guzman nearing a switch to Villarreal

Villarreal are keeping tabs on Mallorca midfielder Jonathan de Guzman, according to El Mundo Deportivo.

The Yellow Submarine are looking for a player to replace Santi Cazorla, and the club chiefs believe the Dutch midfielder could be the man for the job.

The player has an €8 million release clause in his contract, but Villarreal are only willing to offer €4.5 million.

The relationship between the two clubs is not very good at the moment, but Mallorca could be forced to accept the offer due to the poor financial situation.

The player’s representatives have started talks with Villarreal chiefs, which goes to suggest that the two clubs have already agreed on the transfer fee.

Jonathan de Guzman has become a key player for Mallorca soon after arriving from Feyenoord last summer and he has scored 5 goals in 33 La Liga appearances for the Islanders.
