Cardiff boss Dave Jones insists he has not been approached by West Ham as a potential replacement for sacked manager Avram Grant.

Bookmakers have installed Jones as favourite to take over the hot seat at Upton Park as the Londoners prepare for life in the Championship, but the 54-year-old denied he had spoken to anyone about the position.

“I have not had any contact with them over the job,” Jones told the East London Advertiser.

“I’m not prepared to say anything about the vacancy. I’m still employed by Cardiff City Football Club and only thinking of them.”

Jones, however, is on a rolling agreement with the Welsh club and said he would be meeting with officials in the near future.

The Bluebirds bowed out of the promotion race to the English Premier League with a loss in the playoff semi-final to Reading, who take on Swansea in the final next Monday.

“I will be sitting down with the board at Cardiff and discussing my future with them soon,” Jones said.

West Ham co-owner David Gold, meanwhile, took to social networking website Twitter to deny the club had made an approach to Jones.

“Despite what you may have read in the papers, we have not spoken to Dave Jones,” Gold wrote.
