Jose Mourinho blocked Japhet Tanganga’s Tottenham exit

According to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho blocked Japhet Tanganga from leaving the North London club on transfer deadline day. Celtic, West Bromwich Albion and Southampton all expressed an interest in signing Tanganga on loan from Premier League rivals Spurs on the final day of the transfer window.

However, according to the report, Mourinho blocked the 21-year-old defender from leaving. The Tottenham manager reportedly wants the youngster, who can play as a right-back or as a left-back, to be in his squad for the rest of the season.

According to WhoScored, Tanganga has played thrice in the Europa League, and twice each in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup for Spurs so far this season. The 21-year-old has yet to make an appearance in the Premier League this campaign. Spurs are challenging for the Champions League places in the league table.
