Joselu has decided to end his spell at Real Madrid, according to Fabrizio Romano. The well-known and well-respected Italian journalist has reported on X that the former Newcastle United striker is on his way to Al Gharafa.
Romano has claimed that Madrid, who won La Liga and the UEFA Champions League last season, have been informed about Joselu’s decision. The Spain international striker, who is now playing at UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany, has agreed a two-year deal with Qatari club Al Gharafa with an option for another season.
The journalist wrote on X: “The agreement between Joselu and Al Gharafa is done, confirmed as revealed on Monday. Real Madrid are informed.
“Two year deal until June 2026 with an option for further season. Formal process to review all documents and get it signed but deal in place.
“Here we go.”
Joselu spent last season on loan at Madrid from Spanish rivals Espanyol. The 34-year-old Spanish striker scored 10 goals and gave two assists in La Liga and scored five goals in the UEFA Champions League last season.
The Athletic has claimed that Madrid could either activate the €1.5 million purchase option for Joselu and then sell him for the same amount or let Espanyol handle the deal themselves.
