Serbia forward Milan Jovanovic completed his long-expected move to Liverpool on Thursday after signing a three-year contract with the English Premier League club.

The 29-year-old was a free agent following the end of his previous contract with Belgian side Standard Liege and the deal to sign him was arranged by former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez before the Spaniard’s departure to Italian giants Inter Milan.

Jovanovic, who scored Serbia’s winner in their shock World Cup victory over Germany, said: “It is an honour for me to sign for one of the biggest clubs in football. I’m looking forward to joining up with my new team-mates on our Swiss training camp.”
