Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez is on the verge of joining Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano. The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported that Alvarez has agreed a five-year deal with Atletico, who will pay City an initial fee of €75 million for the 24-year-old Argentina international forward.
Romano wrote on X: “Julián Álvarez to Atlético Madrid, here we go! Deal in place for €75m fixed fee plus €20m add-ons.
“Julián has ACCEPTED the proposal for five year deal after talks with agent Hidalgo today.
“Man City signed Julián for £14m and he’s now record sale for €95m package.”
Alvarez has been on the books of City since 2022 and has helped Pep Guardiola’s side win a plethora of trophies. During his time at City, the Argentina international forward won the Premier League title twice, the FA Cup once, and the UEFA Champions League on one occasion. The 24-year-old has also won the FIFA World Cup once and the Copa America twice with Argentina.
