(GSM) – Roma goalkeeper Julio Sergio claims he’s ‘in love’ with the club and that he hopes to stay at the Olimpico for years to come.
Sergio has been an important part of the club’s successtory this season, establishing himself as Roma’s No 1 between the posts.
His contract is due to expire in the summer and there are reports that negotiations to extend his existing deal have started.
“I am in love with Roma. I have found my best form here. I want to win the Coppa Italia and help the team qualify for the Champions League,” the Brazilian goalie told Il Corriere dello Sport.
“I feel good in Rome and my family does too. It’s a beautiful experience for us. We’ll see how my contract situation develops.”
Asked about his recent return from a thigh injury, Sergio revealed: “Physically I feel good. During the game I didn’t have any bother. I have a week of training to improve.
“Every now and again I have muscle problems. I didn’t play for three years. Perhaps it all depends on this factor.
“I have been a professional since 1997. Before I didn’t have muscle injuries. Before coming to Roma I had cruciate ligament surgery. It was the only bad injury of my career.”
