July 12th: Wednesday’s Daily Double – 3/1 Special, Tips & Predictions

With the return of Europe’s elite now just around the corner, we have another stacked Wednesday schedule from the likes of Asia and South America.

For those of you looking to stick on a midweek flutter, we have found a couple of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

12:35 Shanghai Port vs Wuhan Three Towns

While Shanghai Port might have been disappointed after settling for back-to-back 1-1 draws against Dalian Pro and Shandong Taishan over the past week, the Red Eagles still find themselves holding a three-point buffer at the top of the Super League standings. Gaining plenty of plaudits from across China’s top-flight this season, Wednesday’s hosts are riding a real wave of momentum.

Remarkably suffering just a single Super League defeat since opening the 2023 campaign, Javier Pereira’s men have also gained a reputation for their lively outcomes.

Although the Reds might have continued to enjoy an extended flurry in the final third, the one-time Levante boss will have a growing headache over his side’s struggles at the back.

It should be highlighted, Shanghai have failed to record a clean sheet from any of their previous seven domestic appearances across all competitions.

On the flip side, while Wuhan might be tipped as a landslide underdog in midweek, the Blues are in the midst of their own extended romp.

On a run that is highlighted by a stellar 5-1 FA Cup victory away at Jiangxi Beidamen last month, Wednesday’s guests have suffered just a single domestic defeat since way back to April 15th.

Likewise, last seen putting in another eye-catching performance as they clinched a 2-1 win at home against Changchun Yatai, the Blues have notched 10 strikes in their previous four outings.

With Wuhan seeing six of their last seven appearances finish with both teams finding the net, we are expecting a similar outcome in midweek.

23:00 Gremio vs Bahia

Watching their remarkable purple patch come to an abrupt end over the weekend, there is no doubt that Gremio will be seeking an immediate response when they turn their attention back to Copa do Brasil duties here. Clinching a gritty 1-1 stalemate when they travelled to Bahia for their first-leg meeting on July 4th, Wednesday’s hosts should be confident of finishing off the job here.

Tipped as a standout contender to punch their semi-final ticket, Renato Portaluppi’s side should still find the mood in their camp at a real high.

Gaining a string of plaudits since making their Serie A return this season, the Porto Alegre-based outfit remarkably find themselves battling it out at the top of the table and with their sights set on clinching a famous top-four finish in 2023.

Suffering just a pair of defeats from any of their previous 12 straight domestic appearances across all competitions – a run that stems all the way back to May 10th – Gremio have also remarkably suffered just a single loss in front of their own supporters over the past 11 months.

Although Bahia might have followed Gremio in making their Serie A return this season, the Tricolor have struggled to find any real stability since opening the 2023 campaign.

In fact, along with failing to win any of their previous four appearances against top-flight opposition, it should also be noted that Renato Paiva’s men have mustered just a single victory within 90 minutes since the start of May.

Facing what should be another stern challenge when they travel to the Arena do Gremio for their second-leg showdown here, Bahia have recorded just one win from their previous six showdowns against Wednesday’s hosts.
