July 13th: Thursday’s MLS Double – 4/1 Special, Tips & Predictions

With the MLS taking center stage in midweek, we are treated to a stacked American schedule in the early hours of Thursday.

So, for those of you that are looking to stick on a Thursday flutter, we have found a couple of MLS tips that can offer a great return for your midweek bet.

00:30 New York Red Bulls vs Cincinnati

Managing to make a crucial return to winning ways last weekend as they claimed a 2-1 victory against New England, the Red Bulls are now desperate to find some much-needed stability. Still battling outside the play-off places and facing an uphill battle in 2023, Thursday’s hosts have recorded just a pair of wins from any of their previous eight appearances across all formats.

Gaining a reputation for their defensive issues on either side of June’s international break, Troy Lesesne’s men have managed to muster just two domestic clean sheets over the past couple of months.

However, facing what could be a must-win showdown in midweek, New York should at least be excited by their recent success on home soil.

Including last weekend’s lively 2-1 win against New England, the Red Bulls have collected seven points from their last three MLS showdowns in front of their own supporters.

On the flip side, while Cincinnati might still hold a stunning seven-point buffer at the top of the Eastern Conference table, the Garys are enduring a recent wobble.

Now having to settle for back-to-back 2-2 draws against Charlotte and New England over the past week, Thursday’s guests have picked up just a single win from any of their last five MLS appearances – a run that stems back to June 6th.

With the feel of a squad seeking a welcomed boost, Pat Noonan’s men have also shown their own worrying defensive issues on either side of the fortnight interval.

It should be noted, with each of the last four meetings between Thursday’s opponents finishing with both teams finding the net, we are backing a similar outcome here.

03:00 Los Angeles vs St. Louis City

While St. Louis might have endured a brief wobble prior to June’s international break, the MLS latest franchise have come roaring back in some style. Only continuing to gain a string of plaudits since marking their top-flight debut this season, Thursday’s guests find themselves holding a remarkable three-point buffer at the top of the Western Conference.

Last seen putting in another eye-catching performance as they clinched a 1-0 victory away at Toronto, Bradley Carnell’s men now have their sights firmly set on securing what would be a stunning Concaf Champions League ticket.

Along with opening July with a 2-0 victory against Colorado, the Missouri-based outfit have won each of their last three MLS appearances by an aggregate score of 5-1.

Likewise, mustering back-to-back victories on the road, there is no doubt that St. Louis should be smelling the chance to make another heavyweight statement in the early hours of Thursday.

Forced to settle for what was a lackluster 1-1 draw at home against San Jose last weekend, it is no secret that Los Angeles are in the midst of a public MLS nightmare.

Remarkably collecting just a single point from any of their previous four top-flight appearances, the midweek hosts have come under a huge amount of scrutiny on either side of June’s international break.

In fact, the Falcons have managed to muster just a pair of victories from any of their last 12 straight showdowns across all competitions – a run that stems all the way back to May 20th.

It should also be highlighted, LAFC have mustered only a sole win from any of their last seven straight contests at BMO Field.
