July 1st: Saturday’s Daily Double – 6/1 Special, Tips & Predictions

With the U21 European Championships getting their knockout quarter-finals underway this weekend, there are a host of intriguing affairs that are worth keeping an eye out for.

So, for those of you looking to stick on a Saturday flutter, we have found a pair of fixtures that can potentially offer a lucrative return for your weekend bet.

20:00 Spain U21 vs Switzerland U21

Opening their European Championship adventure with a thumping 3-0 romp against Romania on June 21st, it is no secret that Spain find themselves tipped as a leading contender this summer. Although La Rojita might have been last seen settling for an action-packed 2-2 draw against Ukraine earlier in the week, Santi Denia’s high-flying squad cruised their way to top spot in Group B.

Mustering seven points from their three Group B appearances and yet to taste a single European Championship defeat this summer, Spain are certainly enjoying what has been an extended purple patch.

In fact, including a 1-0 victory against Croatia last weekend, the European giants are unbeaten in each of their last 13 straight appearances across all competitions – a run that stems back to November 2021.

Smelling the chance to make a real knockout stage marker on Saturday night, Denia will be calling on the impressive Abel Ruiz to spearhead Spain’s charge this weekend.

Bagging that last-gasp equaliser against Ukraine a few days ago and now notching back-to-back strikes this summer, the Braga striker will certainly have another key role to play here.

On the flip side, while Switzerland might have somehow managed to claw their way to the knockout stage, it is fair to say that the Reds have failed to find any kind of stability this summer.

Signing off their group stage adventure with a routine 4-1 drumming at the hands of France in midweek, the Swiss have now lost back-to-back appearances and are showing some rather glaring issues at the back.

Shipping seven strikes in those back-to-back defeats, Patrick Rahmen’s downbeat squad will be more than aware that they face a monumental challenge on Saturday night.

22:00 Nueva Chicago vs Temperley

Although Nueva Chicago might have only just clung to their Primera Nacional status last season, Saturday’s hosts have certainly made plenty of improvements since opening the 2023 campaign. Skyrocketing their way into the play-off places and riding what has been a real wave of momentum, the Torito should be confident of making another second-tier statement here.

Putting in another rugged performance last weekend as they snatched a 1-1 draw away at leading promotion contenders San Martin Tucuman, Tomas Arrotea Molina’s men should find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high.

Along with heading into the international break with back-to-back 2-0 victories against All Boys and Estudiantes Rio Cuarto, Nueva are enjoying a five-match unbeaten run against Primera Nacional opposition – a run that stems back to May 13th.

Knowing that they could potentially break into the top-six this weekend, Molina should be excited by his side’s continued success on home soil.

In fact, including a stellar 3-0 romp against Almirante Brown last month, Saturday’s hosts have won each of their last three showdowns in Buenos Aires by an aggregate score of 7-0.

Although Temperley might have opened the 2023 campaign with a brief flurry, it is fair to say that the Celeste have come crashing back down to earth in a worrying fashion.

Forced to settle for a 1-1 draw at home against All Boys last weekend, Jose Maria Bianco’s men are now without a win from any of their last seven straight Primera Nacional appearances – a run that stems back to May 7th.
