July 4th: Tuesday’s Daily Double – 4/1 Special, Tips & Predictions

While Europe’s elite might be inching closer to getting their pre-season preparations underway, we still have a handful of intriguing affairs on the schedule in midweek.

On that note, for those of you looking to place a Tuesday flutter, we have found a pair of fixtures that can offer a great return.

10:30 Gold Coast Knights vs Redlands

While Gold Coast might have been disappointed after settling for a silver medal finish last season, Tuesday’s hosts appear to breezing their way to NPL Queensland history in 2023. Opening the midweek fixtures holding a one-point buffer over the chasing pack, the Knights will certainly be smelling the chance to make another statement in midweek.

In fact, along with mustering 13 points from their last five appearances, it should also be noted that Scott McDonald’s men are unbeaten in each of their previous 13 NPL Queensland showdowns – a run that stems all the way back to February 24th.

With the mood around the Croatian Sports Centre at a red-hot high, the Carrara-based outfit have quickly gained a reputation for their free-scoring performances in the final third.

With their rampant run of form underlined by a remarkable 5-1 victory against Eastern Suburbs on June 11th, Gold Coast should be relishing Redlands’ arrival on Tuesday morning.

Last seen making an immediate return to losing ways as they suffered a 3-1 defeat away at Rochdale, Richard Greer’s side have now mustered just one win from any of their last five NPL Queensland battles.

Facing what is a heavyweight challenge when they travel to the leading title contenders in midweek, Redlands should also be worried by a nightmare record against the high-flying Knights.

Along with slumping to a routine 3-0 drumming when they welcomed Gold Coast to the Cleveland Showgrounds back on March 13th, Greer’s downbeat squad have lost seven of their eight previous meetings.

18:30 Zamalek vs Arab Contractors

Although Zamalek might have been frustrated by only mustering a fourth-place finish among Egypt’s elite this season, Tuesday’s guests certainly signed off 2023 with a real flurry. With their sights now fully focused on claiming a 29th Egypt Cup crown, the Royal Club are riding what has been a major wave of momentum over the past few months.

Last seen putting in another eye-catching performance as they claimed a 2-0 victory at home against Ghazl El Mahallah, Juan Carlos Osorio’s men have now won each of their previous four domestic showdowns across all competitions.

Marking their return from June’s international break with a stellar 3-1 romp against Pharco, the one-time New York Red Bulls boss has seen his high-flying squad suffer just a single loss from any of their last 13 straight outings – a run that stems all the way back to April 4th.

Likewise, enjoying a seven-match winning run at the Cairo International Stadium and notching 14 strikes on that hometown purple patch, Zamalek will be confident of punching their semi-final ticket in midweek.

Although the Arab Contractors might have marked their own return from the international break with a much-needed 1-0 win against Ceramica Cleopatra, Tuesday’s guests came immediately crashing back down to earth last week.

Hit with a downbeat 1-0 loss at home against El Daklyeh, the Mountain Wolves have mustered just one win from their previous five domestic appearances.

Without a win from any of their last six straight meetings against the Egypt Cup contenders – a run that stems back to August 2020 – we are expecting what could be an enjoyable home victory here.
