July 6th: Saturday’s Football Double – 5/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

With both EURO 24 and the Copa America getting their respective knockout stage campaigns underway this weekend, we have a stacked Saturday from across the footballing globe.

Although England might steal most of Saturday’s headlines as the Three Lions look to book a semi-final ticket, a high-flying Colombia will look to extend on their history-making flurry.

So, for those of you looking to stick on a Saturday flutter, we have found a pair of the most intriguing betting markets.

20:00 Netherlands vs Turkey

While the Netherlands might have only scrapped their way to a EURO 24 knockout stage ticket this summer, Holland certainly laid down a real Round of 16 marker earlier in the week. Eventually storming their way to a routine 3-0 romp against record-breakers Romania, there is no doubt that Ronald Koeman will be calling on a repeat performance here.

Despite signing off their Group D campaign with a worrying 3-2 loss at the hands of Austria on June 25th as they had to settle for a third-place finish, the former Barcelona boss will be smelling the chance to make another statement on Saturday night.

Winning six of their final seven EURO 24 qualifying appearances last year, the Netherlands also opened their European Championship adventure with a 2-1 win against Poland.

With Koeman’s camp making it abundantly clear that they have their sights set on mounting a late charge this summer, Liverpool ace Cody Gakpo could play a leading role in Berlin.

Once again finding the net against Romania on Tuesday evening, the 25-year-old has now bagged three goals in his four appearances over in Germany this summer.

As for Turkey, while the Crescent Stars might have opened this summer’s tournament in the midst of a real struggle, Vincenzo Montella’s side have sprung a real upset.

Coming past a high-flying Austria earlier in the week as they secured an action-packed 2-1 victory, the one-time Sevilla boss will be backed by an emotional travelling support when his squad arrives in the German capital this weekend.

However, still yet to record a single clean sheet at this summer’s European Championships, Turkey will also be hugely concerned by their most recent showdown against Saturday’s fellow quarter-finalists.

Slumping to a 6-1 drumming when they travelled to Amsterdam while in World Cup qualifying action back in September 2021, Montella’s camp appear that they will face another stern challenge here.

23:00 Colombia vs Panama

Only continuing on what has become a record-breaking purple patch, Colombia are in the midst of a real fairytale. Storming their way to a Copa America knockout stage and riding what has been a major wave of momentum, El Tricolour certainly find the mood in their camp at an iconic high.

Collecting seven points from their three Group D appearances and last seen snatching a 1-1 stalemate against South American giants Brazil, Nestor Lorenzo’s men are remarkably unbeaten in all of their previous 26 consecutive appearances across all competitions.

With that record-breaking flurry stemming all the way back to February 2022, some are tipping Colombia as a genuine title dark horse this summer.

Opening their Copa America adventure with a 2-1 victory against Paraguay on June 24th, the former Argentina coach finds his squad pencilled in as a standout contender late on Saturday night.

Signing off their pre-tournament preparations with a 3-0 victory against Bolivia, Lorenzo’s camp will certainly be relishing their trip to Glendale this weekend.

On the flip side, although Panama might have opened up this summer’s Copa America tipped as a real underdog in the race to book a famous knockout stage ticket, Los Canaleros have sprung a real upset.

However, more than aware that they have a major challenge on their hands at the State Farm Stadium, Thomas Christiansen’s men are also seeking some much-welcomed defensive steel.

In fact, Panama have recorded just a sole clean sheet from any of their previous nine appearances across all competitions.

Likewise, along with suffering a routine 3-0 drumming when they last met Colombia back in June 2019, they have lost back-to-back showdowns against El El Tricolour by an aggregate score of 7-0.
