June 18th: Sunday’s Daily Football Double – 6/1 International Special, Tips & Predictions

With another stacked international schedule on the cards this weekend, it will be the Nations League final that steals all of the headlines.

In what looks set to be a history-making showdown between Croatia and Spain on Sunday night, there remain plenty of interesting affairs from across the globe.

So, for those of you that are looking to stick on an international flutter this weekend, we have created your ultimate Sunday double.

19:45 Uganda vs Algeria

While Algeria might have been left heartbroken back in February as they eventually had to settle for a silver medal finish in the African Nations Championship, Sunday’s guests are still enjoying what has been an extended purple patch. Signing off March’s international break with back-to-back victories against Niger, the Greens have cruised their way to top spot in Group F.

Likewise, along with winning seven of their previous eight appearances across all competitions, Djamel Belmadi’s men have also not suffered a single defeat in 90 minutes since a 2-0 friendly defeat at the hands of Sweden back on November 19th.

With their stellar run of form highlighted by a 1-0 win against fellow African giants the Ivory Coast five months ago, Algeria have also gained a reputation for their continued performances at the back.

It is worth highlighting, Belmadi’s high-flying squad have remarkably shipped just a single strike from any of their last nine straight appearances since opening 2023.

Watching Uganda mark their return to international duties earlier in the week as they slumped to a 1-0 friendly defeat away at D.R. Congo, the Cranes will know that they face a huge challenge here.

Losing three of their last four appearances against African opposition, Milutin Sredojevic’s side should also be concerned by their most recent meeting against Algeria.

Hit with a routine 2-0 loss when they travelled to Algiers 12 months ago, we are expecting a similar outcome here.

Betting Tip: Algeria win & Under 3.5 goals @ 7/5 Pribet

19:45 Croatia vs Spain

Producing another stunning performance earlier in the week as they eventually snatched a famous 4-2 win away against the Netherlands, Croatia have only continued to cement their spot as one of Europe’s very elite. Making even more World Cup history out in Qatar over the winter as they clinched a silver medal finish, the Blazers have proven that they are a major test for any of world football’s heavyweights.

Unbeaten since getting their EURO qualifying adventure underway back in March, Zlatko Dalic’s squad have remarkably suffered just a single loss from any of their previous 16 appearances across all competitions – a run that stems back over the past 12 months.

With their famous flurry highlighted by their famous World Cup quarter-final victory against South American icons Brazil, Croatia are now desperate to claim a first piece of international silverware.

While Spain might have also produced their own dramatic late winner against Italy in midweek, it is fair to say that La Roja are still trying to fully find their feet under new boss Luis de la Fuente.

Suffering an infamous World Cup nightmare out in the Middle East as they fell to a Round of 16 defeat at the hands of Morocco, the European icons were also last seen on EURO qualifying duties getting hit with a shock 2-0 defeat against Scotland on March 28th.

Although Spain might have clinched a crucial boost against the reigning European champions a few days ago, the former world champions certainly face a rugged test here.
