June 23rd: Friday’s Irish Double – 4/1 Special, Tips & Predictions

With Ireland’s elite returning from June’s international break this weekend, we are treated to a host of intriguing affairs.

Ahead of what is a stacked schedule from both the Premier and First Division, there are also some lucrative betting markets available.

So, for those of you looking to place a weekend flutter, we have created your ultimate Irish double.

19:45 St. Patrick’s Athletic vs Shelbourne

Watching their eye-catching flurry come to an abrupt end before heading into the international break, St. Patrick’s will be desperate to claim an immediate response when they return to Premier Division duties on Friday night. Eventually getting hit with a shock 2-1 loss at the hands of Drogheda, that result drew a line under the Saints’ four-match winning run.

However, still gaining a host of plaudits from across Ireland this season, Jon Daly’s side should find the mood in their camp at a continued high.

Marking their return here leading the chase to claim what would be an outstanding top-three finish, Friday’s hosts will also be excited by the prospect of making a return to Richmond Park this weekend.

Last seen in front of their own supporters breezing their way to a routine 4-1 romp against Derry City, St. Patrick’s have won each of their last three Premier Division appearances on home soil by an aggregate score of 9-2.

Although Shelbourne might have also impressed many across Ireland’s elite this season, Damien Duff’s men are hoping to find some recent stability when they return from the international break on Friday night.

However, last seen on June 9th having to settle for a 1-1 draw at home against Sligo Rovers, the one-time Chelsea winger has seen his inconsistent squad muster just a single win from their last five Premier Division appearances.

Likewise, hit with a 1-0 loss when they welcomed the Saints to Tolka Park for their last meeting on May 19th, it should be noted that Shelbourne have lost each of their last three straight showdowns against Friday’s hosts by an aggregate score of 6-0.

Betting Tip: St. Patrick’s Athletic win & Under 3.5 goals @ 7/5 Pribet

19:45 Athlone Town vs Treaty United

While Athlone might have spent the majority of last season battling it out at the foot of the First Division table, Friday’s hosts have certainly made a string of improvements this time around. Heading into the international break with a rugged 1-0 victory away at Kerry, Emiliano Williams’ side now find themselves sat in pole position to claim a play-off spot in 2023.

Marking their return to second-tier duties this weekend holding a commanding seven-point buffer from dropping out of the top-five, Athlone have won each of their last three First Division appearances.

With their recent purple patch highlighted by a 3-1 romp against Bray on June 5th, Williams’ high-flying squad will also be excited by their continued success on home soil.

Last seen in front of their own supporters picking up that eye-catching 3-1 win against Bray, Athlone have mustered 12 points from their last five First Division showdowns in Lissywollen.

On the flip side, while Athlone might be enjoying an extended flurry, the same cannot be said for a Treaty squad that are enduring what has become a real second-tier nightmare.

In fact, on a run that is underlined by an infamous 7-0 drumming away at Waterford on June 2nd, Friday’s guests have collected just a single point from their previous five First Division appearances – a run that stems back over the past five weeks.

Without a win from their last three straight trips to Lissywollen, the Limerick-based outfit should face another stern test when they return this weekend.
