June 2nd: Sunday’s Segunda Double – 4/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

With the 2023/24 Segunda campaign drawing to a close on Sunday evening, we have plenty of battles that still need to be decided this weekend.

As scraps at both ends of the table will be decided on Sunday, we certainly have a stacked Segunda fixture list on the cards.

With plenty of intriguing Segunda betting markets available this weekend, we have taken a glance at two of the best options.

17:30 Leganes vs Elche

While Leganes might have been left hugely frustrated last season as they limped their way to a bottom-half finish, Sunday’s hosts have enjoyed a famous Segunda fairytale this season. Now on the cusp of securing what will be a stunning La Liga return this season, Broja Jimenez’s men will be looking to make one final second-tier statement here.

Knowing that a single-point will be enough to officially finish off the job here, El Laga find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high and they are rightfully pencilled in as a standout contender this weekend.

Although Leganes might have eventually been forced to settle for an action-packed 2-2 stalemate away at Ferrol last week, the Madrid-based outfit have suffered just one defeat from any of their previous 12 straight Segunda appearances.

With that purple patch stemming all the way back to March 3rd, Jimenez’s side have also gained a reputation for their rugged success at the Estadio Municipal Butarque.

In fact, Sunday’s hosts have lost just a sole Segunda showdown in front of their own supporters since the opening weekend of the 2023/24 campaign.

While Elche might have been looking to secure an immediate La Liga return this season, Los Franjiverdes have drastically struggled to find any kind of stability.

Last seen putting in another downbeat performance as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat at home against Eldense, Sebastian Beccacece’s side have collected just a single victory from any of their previous 10 consecutive Segunda outings.

Opening May with a 3-1 loss at the hands of Racing Santander, it should also be noted that Elche have mustered just two points from any of their last five showdowns outside of Alicante.

Likewise, failing to win any of their seven historic trips to the Estadio Municipal Butarque, we are backing Leganes to officially wrap up their top-two finish here.

Betting Tip: Leganes win & Over 1.5 goals @ 6/5 with Pribet

17:30 Espanyol vs Cartagena

While Espanyol might have eventually fallen short in their bid to book an automatic La Liga return, Manolo Gonzalez’s men have wrapped up a play-off ticket with time left to spare. Still holding the chance to clinch a bronze medal finish this season, Sunday’s hosts will be excited to make a return to the Stage Front Stadium on Sunday evening.

Although Parakeets might have remarkably been forced to settle for a stalemate in 10 of their previous 13 Segunda appearances, they have continued to shine on home soil.

Not suffering a single Segunda defeat in front of their own supporters since way back on October 20th, Espanyol will be calling on their attacking talisman to make one final statement here.

While it appears this might be Martin Braithwaite’s last appearance in Catalonia, the former Barcelona striker has enjoyed another free-scoring flurry this season.

Holding a three-goal buffer in the race for the Segunda Golden Boot, the Denmark international has recorded 21 strikes this year and should be smelling another potential opportunity this weekend.

Although Cartagena might have found themselves in the midst of a stunning four-match winning run on either side of opening May, Sunday’s guests have endured a tricky fortnight.

Last seen slumping to a 2-0 defeat at home against Huesca, Julian Calero’s side have suffered back-to-back losses for the first time since the start of April.

Sat in Segunda limbo since opening the New Year, the Zebras have continued to show some rather glaring issues away from the Estadio Cartagonova this season.

Including a 3-0 drumming at the hands of Burgos prior to March’s international break, the Murcia-based outfit have recorded just a single victory from any of their previous six Segunda matches on the road.
