With the European Championships knockout stage getting underway this weekend, we have a stacked Sunday schedule from across the footballing globe.

Watching this summer’s Copa America steal plenty of the headlines, reigning world champions Argentina will feature in the early hours of Sunday.

Likewise, with a full MLS fixtures list on the cards, we have taken an in-depth look at some of the most intriguing betting markets.

Sunday, June 30th

BST 00:30 New York Red Bulls vs DC United

Making a welcomed return to winning ways last weekend as they stormed their way to a 3-0 romp against Toronto, New York have continued on a real MLS flurry since opening up the 2024 campaign. Despite missing out on a play-off ticket last season, the Red Bulls are battling it out at the top of the Eastern Conference table and appearing to cruise their way to a top-six finish. Suffering just a single defeat from any of their previous six MLS appearances, Sandro Schwarz’s men have also continued to gain a reputation for their success on home soil. Opening June with a 1-0 win against Orlando, the former Hertha Berlin has seen his squad collected 13 points from their previous five showdowns at the Red Bull Arena. With that purple patch highlighted by an action-packed 4-2 victory against New England on May 12th, New York have also not suffered a single defeat in front of their own supporters since opening up the new campaign.

Putting in a nightmare performance at home against Houston last weekend as they eventually fell to a 4-1 drumming, DC United find themselves at the heart of a major MLS crisis. Losing all of their previous three consecutive appearances by an aggregate score of 6-1, Troy Lesesne’s men are battling it out at the foot of the Eastern Conference table and are pencilled in as a major play-off underdog. Signing off May with a 4-2 defeat against Montreal, the former New York boss faces a stern challenge when he returns to the Red Bull Arena here. Without a win from any of their previous eight straight MLS appearances – a run that stems back to May 12th – DC United have also gained a reputation for their glaring defensive struggles. Shipping 37 goals since opening up the 2024 campaign, Sunday’s guests should be bracing themselves for a real examination this weekend.

Tip: New York Red Bulls win @ 1/2

01:00 Peru vs Argentina

Making major history out in Qatar 18 months ago as they were crowned world champions for the first time since 1986, Argentina are in the midst of what has been an iconic flurry over recent times. Now sat at the top of the FIFA rankings and only continuing to shine since their World Cup success back in the winter of 2022, the South American giants find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Last seen earlier in the week putting in another rugged performance as they clinched a 1-0 victory against Chile, La Albiceleste have won each of their opening two Copa America appearances this summer. Getting proceedings underway with a 2-0 win against Canada on June 21st, Argentina will certainly be looking to make another statement here. Signing off 2023 with a famous 1-0 victory against arch-rivals Brazil, Lionel Scaloni’s men have now won 15 of their previous 16 appearances across all competitions. Tipped as a leading contender to defend their Copa America crown this summer, the reigning world champions will be confident of signing off their Group A campaign with a 100% record.

While Peru might have opened this summer’s tournament knowing that they had a real uphill battle on their hands in the race to punch a knockout stage ticket, La Bicolor have once again failed to impress. Last seen earlier in the week putting in another toothless performance as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Canada, Jorge Fossati’s men have failed to notch a single goal from any of their opening two Copa America appearances. Likewise, opening their World Cup qualifying adventure last year in the midst of a real struggle, the former Qatar boss has seen his downbeat squad fail to win any of their previous nine competitive appearances across all competitions. Facing what will be a monumental challenge in the early hours of Sunday, Peru have also continued to show some glaring issues in the final third. Including a 2-0 loss when they last met Argentina back on October 18th, the Reds have recorded just a single goal on their nine-match winless rut.

Tip: Argentina win to nil @ 6/5

17:00 England vs Slovakia

While England might have opened up this summer’s European Championships pencilled in as a standout contender to get their hands on a first piece of silverware since their World Cup success way back in 1966, Gareth Southgate’s squad have drastically failed to make any kind of impact. With mounting pressure on the one-time Middlesbrough boss, the Three Lions could only sign off their Group C adventure with a single victory to their name. Missing out on what was a golden opportunity earlier in the week as they eventually had to settle for a 0-0 stalemate against Slovenia, England have remarkably collected just a pair of wins from any of their previous eight appearances across all competitions. Drawing a line under their pre-tournament preparations with an infamous 1-0 defeat at home against Iceland, the Three Lions are desperately searching for a clinical edge in the final third. However, although the European giants might be seeking a much-welcomed boost, they have certainly been handed a golden opportunity this weekend.

Getting their EURO 24 campaign underway with an iconic 1-0 victory against European heavyweights Belgium, Slovakia have continued to break a string of records this summer. Booking a maiden knockout stage ticket, the Falcons will certainly be relishing their famous trip to the Veltins Arena on Sunday evening. However, although Francesco Calzona’s men might have suffered just a single defeat from any of their previous five appearances across all competitions, they will be bracing themselves for a monumental challenge here. Pencilled in as a landslide underdog, they should be concerned by a nightmare record against this summer’s potential title contenders. Hit with a 2-1 defeat when they travelled to Wembley while in World Cup qualifying action back in September 2017, they have failed to win any of their six historic showdowns against the Three Lions.
