Bayer Leverkusen boss Jupp Heynckes is the number one candidate to take over the reigns at Bayern when Louis van Gaal leaves at the end of the season.
The 65-year-old coach was planning to retire at the end of the season, but it appears that he is willing to reconsider the decision after finding out of Bayern interest.
Louis van Gaal is set to leave the Bayern bench at the end of the season and the club chiefs are reportedly keen on the Bayer Leverkusen boss.
“I will assemble next week with the directors, then we will discuss many things, and then we’ll let you know what decisions,” Heynckes told Kicker.
Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer also hinted that Heynckes will be the man to replace Louis van Gaal.
“He is unique. With his young age of 65 he still has the fire. He has proven during the time after Juergen Klinsmann that he can be a Bayern coach.”
