Juve close on Sergi Roberto

Catalan daily newspaper Sport claims that Juventus have emerged as favourites to sign Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto.

The Catalans have already rejected several offers for the talented footballer, but the Bianconeri are reportedly prepared to match his €40 million release clause.

Sergi Roberto would rather remain at Camp Nou, but he also prefers a central midfield role, and may have to leave the club unless they start using him in his preferred position.

The 25-year-old mostly operated as a right-sided defender of late, amassing a total of 47 outings across all competitions last term.

Roberto is the product of Barcelona’s famous La Masia youth academy and has so far featured in 95 La Liga matches.
