Juve enter race for Vertonghen

Juventus have joined the race to sign Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen, Italian daily Tuttosport has revealed.

Boss Antonio Conte is not entirely satisfied with his defensive options and he is looking to sign another versatile defender, who can cover at least two positions at the back.

Uruguayan full-back Martin Caceres has proved to be a big hit at Juventus Arena and Conte want another player with similar characteristics.

According to Tuttosport, the Bianconeri boss has set his sights on Ajax stalwart Jan Vertonghen, who is widely tipped to leave Amsterdam ArenA at the end of the season.

The Belgian international can play as a centre-back, left-back or even in midfield, and the best thing is that he should be available at a cut-back price in the summer seeing that he has just over a year left on his contract.

However, Juventus are likely to face a stiff competition for the 24-year-old, with Arsenal and Tottenham also keen.
