Juventus are pondering a summer move for Javier Mascherano, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
The Bianconeri are planning to rebuild the midfield area in the summer and are hoping to lure Mascherano away from Barcelona.
The Argentine failed to command a starting place at Camp Nou and is thought to be open to a move at the end of the season.
Juventus are prepared to sell Felipe Melo if the right offer comes along, while it looks unlikely that the Old Lady will splash the cash to make Alberto Aquilani’s loan move permanent.
The Bianconeri are, therefore, looking for summer reinforcements and they hope to pair Andrea Pirlo and Javier Mascherano in the centre of the park.
Beppe Marotta hopes to persuade Luciano Spalletti into taking over the reigns at Olimpico at the end of the season and with the talented boss a big fan of the 4-2-3-1 formation, Mascherano and Pirlo would be seen as pillars of the new Juventus.
