Juventus have moved quickly to sign veteran striker Luca Toni after Fabio Quagliarella was ruled out for the rest of season.
Quagliarella, 27, ruptured a knee ligament during Juve’s 4-1 defeat at home to Parma on Thursday.
He is likely to be out of action for four to six months.
With Vincenzo Iaquinta also missing due to a thigh problem, Juve were left with only Alessandro Del Piero and Amauri as first-team strikers.
But the Turin side have snapped up 33-year-old World Cup winner Toni as cover.
The former Fiorentina and Bayern Munich man will head to the Stadio Olimpico di Torino after just six months with Genoa.
Juve had previously been linked with a move for Catania’s Maxi Lopez and Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino.
