(GSM) – Juventus legend Michel Platini believes his former club will eventually win the Serie A title.
Juve last won the Serie A championship in the 2002-03 season after which they were stripped from the 2005 and 2006 titles following the Calciopoli scandal that rocked the foundations of Italian football.
Juventus finished in seventh place during the forgettable last term but the club has taken a grand leap under new manager Luigi Del Neri and currently sits fourth.
After being awarded a star for being one of Juventus’ 50 legends, Platini said that he feels the Italian club are heading in the right direction and will eventually dominate Italian football again.
When asked who would win the Serie A title this season, the UEFA president told Sky Italia: “Juve, surely.
Juve were the best in the world. It’s difficult to rebuild after Calciopoli and it takes time.”
