Juventus head coach Igor Tudor has said that his players will improve as they get used to his ideas following a 1-1 draw away to Roma on Sunday.

The match was Tudor’s second game in charge after taking over from Thiago Motta, having beaten Genoa 1-0 in his first game in charge a week ago.

Juventus were well on top in the opening stages against Roma and went ahead through Manuel Locatelli before half-time, but were pegged back through Eldor Shomurodov in the second period.

“I really liked the first half, we pushed well,” Tudor told DAZN. “They changed something in the second half, but in the end we wanted to win it more.

“Considering the period that the team is coming from, both physically and mentally, we’re on the right path. The draw gives us confidence.”

Prior to Tudor’s arrival at the club, Juventus had lost four of their previous six matches including exits from the Champions League and Coppa Italia.

But with a victory and a draw since he came in, things are looking up for the Old Lady.

“[We scored a] great goal, it’s always the quality of the players that decides,” said Tudor.

“We wanted to bring many players forward, but not concede on the counter-attack. We saw the right mentality.”

Tudor played for the club between 1998-2007 and was assistant to Andrea Pirlo during his spell in charge in the 2020-21 season.

“I’ve been here for 10 days, the emotion subsides after a while and you have to think about work,” he said.

“You care, you think about all the details and there is little time to enjoy. It’s a job that from the outside seems to more enjoyable, but from the inside less.”
