According to a recent report from Calciomercato, Juventus have backed out of the race to try and sign Bayer Leverkusen sensation Kai Havertz – in order to focus on a contract renewal for forward Paulo Dybala.
It’s no secret that Havertz is a wanted man ahead of the summer transfer window officially opening, with a string of top European clubs fighting it out for his signature. Premier League side Chelsea are believed to be ahead of the pack, but now, the Old Lady has decided to quit while they’re ahead in favour of keeping Dybala at the club.
In all likelihood Havertz will be plying his trade elsewhere by the time next season finally rolls around, but it doesn’t really feel like that’s the point to all of this. The point is that Juve backed off, which could serve as an indication that the Blues have a better offer on the table.
