Catalan media outlet El Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Juventus have emerged as favourites to sign French midfielder Steven N’Zonzi from Sevilla.
The Bianconeri have dropped their interest in Lyon hotshot Corentin Tolisso due to a high asking price and they are reportedly ready to match N’Zonzi’s €30 million release clause.
Barcelona, too, were keen on the Frenchman as they wanted to sign a back up to Sergio Busquets, but they have since decided to use Sergi Roberto in midfield again and sign a new right-sided defender.
The Catalans are also not prepared to invest so much money in the player who recently turned 28.
N’Zonzi has been in stunning form ever since he joined Sevilla from Stoke City, but he has rejected talks over a new and improved deal as he reportedly wants to leave for greener pastures at the end of the season.
Juventus, who are priced at 14/1 for the Champions League trophy, appear to be leading the chase at the moment.
