Italian champions Juventus have moved to confirm interest in Valencia full-back Joao Cancelo.
The highly rated defender has left Inter Milan after the Nerazzurri opted against exercising a buy-out clause, but he is unlikely to return to Mestalla.
Juventus appear to have emerged as favourites to sign Cancelo after Stephan Lichtsteiner left the club on a free transfer and general manager Beppe Marotta has now confirmed interest.
“Cancelo is a great player. We are looking for a profile like his, but at the moment, there are no negotiations in progress,” Marotta told reporters.
“I can only say that he is an interesting player.”
According to reports, Valencia want €40 million for their star player, while Juventus will obviously attempt to lower the asking price.
Cancelo, 24, fared pretty well during the season-long loan spell with Inter Milan, producing 1 goal and 3 assists in 26 Serie A outings.
