Juventus’ final push for Ivan Rakitic

As it is increasingly looking like Neymar will be staying at Paris Saint Germain for at least four more months, Barcelona may now be willing to part ways with Ivan Rakitic. Italian champions Juventus expressed their interest for the Croatian midfielder some time ago, but sporting director Favio Paratici and Barcelona’s hierarchy got in touch again over the past weekend, Sport reports.

The Croatian has not been indispensable at Camp Nou despite his quality and his leaving the club would be no surprise, as earlier in the season there was talk that he might be joining Manchester United and later Inter Milan. If rumours are to be believed, however, the 31-year-old was included in Barca’s deal to get Neymar, and any deals independent of the Brazilian forward’s future seemed unlikely.

All that might change now. With the transfer window closing today, Barca might be willing to let go of Rakitic. If Neymar stays, the Catalans may turn their thoughts to deals that actually have a chance of materialising.
