Juventus have opened talks to sign Zenit centre-back Bruno Alves, reports Russian newspaper Izvestia.
The Bianconeri are somewhat short of options in the heart of defence, and they have reportedly launched a new assault on long-term target Bruno Alves.
The Portugal international will have to accept a major pay cut if he is to join the Old Lady, seeing that he currently earns €2.3 million per campaign and Juventus are only prepared to offer €1.5 million per season.
Alves is, however, desperate to put an end to his disappointing spell with Zenit and he would jump at the opportunity to join the Serie A champions.
Juventus still need to negotiate a transfer fee with the Russians, who look ready to cash in on the experienced defender.
Bruno Alves, 31, joined Zenit in a €22 million deal from Porto back in 2010, but he never quite managed to prove his worth in Russia.
