Juventus join Tevez chase; Ballack set for Premiership return

Juventus join Tevez chase

Juventus have joined the race to sign Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez, La Gazzetta dello Sport has revealed.

The Argentine striker is set for January exit after being informed that he would not be selected again for Manchester City.

Given the circumstances, Tevez should be available at a cut-back price in January and Milan were thought to be leading the race for his services.

The Rossoneri want Tevez as a replacement for Antonio Cassano and they have been linked with a January loan for the player.

Milan are reportedly ready to pay €5 million for a six-month loan with an option to buy the player outright for another €20 million.

However, La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Juventus are planning to hijack Milan’s bid for the Argentine.

The Bianconeri are not entirely happy with their options in attack and are ready to splash the cash on Tevez.

Ballack set for Premiership return

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Michael Ballack is set to return to English Premier League, according to Bild.

The former Chelsea playmaker has less than a year left on his deal with Die Werkself and everything suggests that he will not be offered a contract extension.

The 35-year-old doesn’t have such a good relationship with coach Robin Dutt and he is set to leave the club when his contract expires in the summer.

Ballack has been in scintillating form over the last few months, and everything suggests there will be no shortage of offers for the veteran midfielder.

Premiership return looks likely at the moment, with Blackburn, Fulham and Tottenham expressing interest in the German.

However, Ballack is also wanted in Russia, China and Qatar, while even a move to the MLS is an option.

While the player can leave for free in the summer, he will also be available at a cut-back price in January and one of the interested sides could take advantage of this to beat the rivals for his signature.

Owen Coyle admits Cahill could leave soon

Bolton boss Owen Coyle seems to have come to terms with losing star defender Gary Cahill.

The 25-year-old is one of the hottest commodities in the Premier League and Bolton have already rejected several bids for his services.

While recent reports suggest that top Premiership clubs could enter a real bidding war for the player’s services in January, Bolton boss Owen Coyle admits the Trotters may have to sell.

“If something comes in, I think for Gary, for everybody, it’s probably better sooner than later,” Coyle was quoted as saying in Daily Mail.

“We all accept that if something is going to happen, it is best it isn’t dragged out. There will always be speculation about top players and Gary is certainly in that category.

“You can have a gut feeling about whether he will stay or go, but you could be totally wrong.

“I would imagine that if he is performing out of his skin, there will be a clamour of clubs for him, because of his contract situation.”

Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal have already expressed interest in signing the England international, but several clubs from abroad could also join the race.
