Juventus are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid star Xabi Alonso, reports Spanish daily AS.
The Bianconeri are looking to sign a replacement for midfielder Andrea Pirlo, whose contract is due to expire at the end of the current campaign, and they believe the Spaniard would revel in a deep-lying playmaker role in Turin.
Juventus plan to bring the player on a free transfer when his contract expires next summer, but it remains to be seen whether they can prize him away from Santiago Bernabeu.
The talks over a new contract for the highly rated midfielder have been going on for quite some time, but with no progress being made, everything suggests Alonso will soon be leaving his current employers.
The 31-year-old continues to be linked with a return to Anfield, but chances are he would be more interested in joining Juventus, who are slowly becoming a real force to be reckoned with in European football.
