Juventus are stepping up their efforts to sign Atalanta full-back Federico Peluso, according to Tuttosport.
The Bianconeri have been closely monitoring the experienced defender for a while now, but they feel this is the right time to launch an official assault.
With Giorgio Chiellini sidelined through injury and Kwadwo Asamoah set to miss at least a month of action due to his involvement at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, Antonio Conte is eager to add a new left-back in January.
Conte doesn’t think Paolo de Ceglie is a perfect option for the left hand side and has, therefore, instructed transfer guru Beppe Marotta to open negotiations with Atalanta over Peluso.
The two clubs are still some way off reaching an agreement, given that Orobici want €7 million and Juventus are only ready to offer €4 million, but it is believed they will eventually come to an agreement.
Federico Peluso is widely regarded as one of the best left-sided defenders in Serie A and has already made two appearances for Italy in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
