According to reports in Italy, Juventus are currently leading the race for the signature of Bayern Munich’s David Alaba.
The versatile defender has been linked heavily with Liverpool, ever since Virgil van Dijk was ruled out for most of the season, and since the same happened with Joe Gomez, the rumours have been growing apace. The contract stand-off between Alaba and Bayern Munich added fuel to the fire, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season. Apparently, Alaba refused to sign a new contract that was offered to him, and the Bavarians reacted by taking the offer off the table altogether and declaring that there wouldn’t be another.
It is now clear that the 29-year-old will leave Munich, though it remains to be seen if he’ll run his contract down or depart in January.
But according to Turin-based outlet Tuttosport, Juventus are now the club with the biggest chance of landing Alaba, seeing him as a good candidate to replace veteran Giorgio Chiellini.
