Juventus make bumper offer for Carlos Tevez; Aguero rules out a move to Italy

Juventus make bumper offer for Carlos Tevez

Juventus have joined the race for Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez by offering €52 million, Corinthians president has revealed.

Manchester City recently rejected a £40 million bid from Corinthians for wantaway striker Carlos Tevez, as they are reportedly asking for £50 million.

However, it appears that Juventus have now entered the bidding war as well, having offered £45.6 million for the Argentine.

Corinthians president Andre Sanchez, nevertheless, believes that he can still lure the player to Brazil.

“I will do everything possible so that he can join us but I will not increase the offer by a cent,” Sanchez told Brazilian newspaper Lance.

“Our offer stands until next year.

“City have an offer of 52million euros (£45.6m) from Juventus, but Tevez does not want to remain in Europe.

“I still dream of the possibility but it depends on Manchester City, and the player’s decision means a lot.”

Tevez is reportedly eager to return to South America so as to be closer to his family, but there are reports suggesting that he would be interested in a move to Italian Serie A.

With Corinthians unlikely to increase their initial offer, Juventus are now the favourites for his signature.

Aguero rules out a move to Italy

Atletico Madrid forward Kun Aguero hinted that a move to Juventus was no longer a viable option by saying that Spain and England were his preferred destinations.

Juventus were hot on the trail of the Argentine, but it is now clear that the lengthy negotiations failed to produce a result.

The player who yesterday stated that he had no intention to return to Atletico has added fuel to speculations linking him to Real Madrid and Manchester City.

“I would prefer to play in Spain or England, they are the best countries,” Aguero told radio station La Red.

“I’ve already said that I no longer see myself at Atletico Madrid, I’ll look for what is best for me. I know that my agents are working on it and I don’t really want to think about it.

He once again reiterated his desire to leave Atletico Madrid this summer.

“I’ll wait until after the Copa America, when things would have calmed down a bit. To say that I am an Atletico player is like saying a lie.”

The diminutive striker has a €45 million release clause inserted in his contract and it is highly unlikely that Atletico would settle for anything less.

Inter complete Jonathan signing

Inter have announced the signing of Brazilian defender Jonathan from Santos on their official website.

The cost of the transfer was not revealed, but the player has signed a four-year contract with the Neroazzurri.

The highly rated defender had arrived to Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday but he now officially became an Inter player.

The 25-year-old was delighted to be joining such a successful club.

“Let’s make Inter even more successful. I’ve always heard that Inter are a fantastic club, with everything they have won and considering the league they play in,” Jonathan told club’s official website.

“I’m delighted to have this chance to ply my trade here and show what I’m capable of.”

Jonathan only joined Santos in December 2010, but has immediately become an important part of the side that went on to win the Copa Libertadores last season.

The young defender has arrived to Inter as a replacement for Douglas Maicon, who is widely tipped to leave the club this summer.
