Once again turning our attention to the midweek Nicaraguan Premier League fixtures, Juventus Managua will look to move one step closer to securing a top-six finish when they host a struggling Deportivo Ocotal in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Starting with the hosts, putting in what was a rampant display in their 3-0 win against Real Madriz over the weekend, Juventus Managua now sit firmly in pole position to secure a play-off finish this year. With just a pair of Premier League matchups remaining, Los Pibes have collected seven points out of a possible nine over the past three weeks, including another 3-0 victory against top-two contenders Diriangén earlier in the month. Holding a two-point buffer in the play-off positions, a huge part of the Yellow and Blacks’ recent success has come down to their continued performances on home soil. Including their back-to-back 3-0 wins, Juventus Managua have won each of their last five Premier League appearances in Masaya and are unbeaten in front of their own supporters since the end of January.

As for the visitors, hit with a 1-0 defeat at home against a high-flying Walter Ferretti over the weekend, Deportivo Ocotal have continued on what has been nothing short of a woeful end to the season. Sat bottom of the Premier League entering their penultimate appearance, Randall Moreno’s men have lost seven of their last eight outings and have managed to pick up just a single top-flight point over the past month. A huge part of Ocotal’s extended issues has come down to some rather glaring problems on their travels. Losing each of their last four Premier League away matchups and shipping at least a pair of goals in each of those defeats, Gallos Segovianos have failed to win any of their last eight appearances away from the Estadio Roy Fernando Bermúdez. Sadly for Thursday’s guests, Ocotal also hold a worrying record away in Masaya. Including a 4-0 hammering the last time they faced off against Juventus Managua on the road, Moreno’s side have lost each of their last seven trips to the Estadio Olímpico.
