Juventus’ Alessandro Del Piero has called on his team-mates to bounce back from their poor form with a win over Catania in the Coppa Italia.
The Bianconeri skipper said his side needed to show their talents after conceding seven goals in two defeats so far this year.
”We have to come out of this situation as soon as possible and not be affected by pessimism and negativity. The year has only just begun and there are many games left to play,” Del Piero said.
”We have to concentrate on what we have to do rather than on what we have not done and focus on our Coppa Italia match against Catania and in Sunday’s game against Bari.”
Juventus manager Luigi Delneri will be missing striker Amauri for the clash in Torino.
Catania boss Marco Giampolo said he is aware Delneri’s side is ripe for the picking for their last-16 Cup tie.
“Big clubs usually give very little importance to the Coppa Italia in the early stages, but at the end of the season it becomes the classic competition everyone clings to in order to win silverware. I expect Juventus to be motivated, but so will Catania,” Giampolo said.
“The quarter-finals are a realistic objective for us. If we confirm our recent performances, then we can get a result and beat Juventus.”
Catania, like their opponents, are going into the match on the back of consecutive league losses.
