Juventus sign Quagliarella on loan from Napoli

Juventus on Friday announced that they have signed Italy international striker Fabio Quagliarella on a season-long loan with an option to buy from Serie A rivals Napoli.

Juventus are paying 4.5 million euros to take Quagliarella on loan for the 2010-2011 campaign and will be able to make the move permanent for a further fee of 10.5 million euros.

The 27-year-old striker will be paid two million euros per season, according to Italian news agency Ansa.

Quagliarella has played 22 times for Italy and scored five goals, including a delicate chip in their 3-2 defeat by Slovakia at the World Cup.

Juve moved for Quagliarella after being thwarted in their attempts to sign Udinese captain Antonio Di Natale.

He becomes the club’s ninth recruit of the current transfer window, as the 27-time Italian champions look to rebuild under new coach Luigi Delneri following a dismal seventh-place finish last term.

The former Udinese striker joins Serbian winger Milos Krasic, Uruguayan attacking midfielder Jorge Martinez and Italians Simone Pepe and Davide Lanzafame in Juve’s new-look attacking department.

Juve sold Brazilian playmaker Diego to Wolfsburg for 15.5 million euros earlier on Friday and veteran French international striker David Trezeguet is believed to be on the verge of a move to newly-promoted Spanish side Hercules.
