Juventus have signed midfielder Simone Padoin from Atalanta for an undisclosed fee, the Italian club have confirmed.
The Bianconeri were on the lookout for a new central midfielder and they were on the verge of signing Fredy Guarin and Radja Nainggolan.
However, after they failed to reach an agreement with the players’ clubs, the Old Lady turned their attention towards Atalanta midfielder Simone Padoin and have now announced the deal has been completed on their official website.
The cost of the transfer is €5 million, whereas the player has signed a five-year contract with the Italian giants.
“Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that the agreement with Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio S.p.A. for the definitive acquisition of the registration rights of player Simone Padoin has been finalized,” read the statement.
“The contract envisages the payment by Juventus of €5 million in three years. Juventus and the player have signed a 5-year contract of employment.”
The 27-year-old midfielder started his career at famous Atalanta youth school, but he spent four years at Vicenza before returning to Bergamo.
He has since become a key player for the Nerazzurri and amassed almost 100 league appearances over the last three and a half seasons.
Padoin started 18 Serie A games for Atalanta this term, but failed to register a single goal in the process.
