Italian champions Juventus are stepping up their efforts to sign Zenit midfielder Axel Witsel, according to Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.
The Bianconeri have made the Belgian footballer their number one target in the summer transfer window as they prepare for life without Paul Pogba and Andrea Pirlo.
Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici was present at the Europa League clash between Torino and Zenit, making another check on his long-term target.
Despite leaving Benfica for Zenit some three years ago, the 26-year-old has remained on the radar of Europe’s top clubs and everything suggests he will be moving to Turin at the end of the season.
Axel Witsel has made a total of 68 league appearances for the Russian giants, scoring 11 goals in the process.
His suitors Juventus have been paired with Monaco in the Champions League quarter-finals and they are available at 4/11 to qualify for the next stage.
