Sport Mediaset is reporting that Italian champions Juventus have submitted an official proposal for Zenit midfielder Axel Witsel.
The Bianconeri long ago made the Belgian footballer their primary target to replace Paul Pogba and they have now made their interest concrete.
According to Sport Mediaset, Juventus have sent an official proposal for the player’s services worth €18 million.
That is still far away from Zenit’s €30 million asking price, but the most important thing is that the talks are underway and it is expected that the two sides will eventually find an agreement that would see the Belgian move to Turin.
Axel Witsel, 26, has spent last three years in Russia, making 71 league appearances and scoring 11 goals in the process.
He has long ago nailed down a regular starting berth in the Belgium national team and started four matches at the 2014 World Cup, helping the Red Devils make it to the quarter-finals.
