Juventus F.C. director general Beppe Marotta has talked up a potential move for in-form Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Chile international, 25, left Udine for Catalunya in a deal worth €26 million in 2011 but has been linked with a return to Italy in recent times.
The Bianconeri are believed to be leading the race for Sanchez, who will not be short of suitors after a fantastic 2013/14 campaign in which he tallied 19 goals and 10 assists in 34 La Liga appearances.
English Premier league runners-up Liverpool have entered for the race for the highly-rated Chilean, according to reports, with the Reds also keen on Bayer Leverkusen’s Emre Can.
Reports in Italy have suggested Juve are prepared to submit a €20 million bid for Sanchez when the club secure the services of Antonio Conte for next season.
“Sanchez is a great player and every top club would like him, so clearly Juventus would also love to have him,” Marotta told Sky Italia.
“We must take into account he is also a very expensive player and it must also be seen what he wants.
“Juve are always linked with a lot of players. At the moment, we are waiting to define the situation with the coach, then we will try to look for flexible players.”
Eintracht Frankfurt want to keep Joselu
Eintracht Frankfurt general manager Bruno Hubner has confirmed the club’s interest in completing the permanent signing of former Real Madrid striker Joselu from Bundesliga rivals Hoffenheim.
The ex-Spain Under-21 international, 24, scored a team-high 14 goals in all competitions for Germany’s 13th-placed finishers in 2013/14 but is contracted to the Rhein-Neckar-Arena until 30 June 2016.
Eintracht will likely face stiff competition for the Spaniard; however, Hoffenheim may not want to sell their prized asset if they are offered a generous sum for Brazilian ace Roberto Firmino, who led the club with 16 goals and 11 assists this past season.
Simply put, GM Bruno Hubner is looking to bring in two or three players — including Joselu, who is rated at €5 million, when the transfer window re-opens in July.
“We have two or three players that we still have to go for,” said Hubner.
“In terms of Joselu I think we have a good chance. It may take time, but I am optimistic he is going to stay with us.”
Should he [Joselu] stay or should he go? Where do Frankfurt need to strengthen in the summer? All of these questions, and more, will surely be answered in the coming weeks.
