According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Italian giants Juventus are considering some alternatives to Matthijs de Ligt after spending the last few months tracking the progress of the youngster. It initially seemed like they could be in with a pretty good chance of making some kind of deal happen, but now, it no longer seems like that’s the case. That’s because Barcelona are in pole position to complete the signing, which would see de Ligt join teammate Frenkie de Jong in making the jump over to the Nou Camp. As a direct result Juve are set to turn their attention towards Ruben Dias, who currently plays for Benfica.
Dias would be a more than capable replacement and has had a solid season with the Portuguese side so far, but you have to question how much time he’d get in the first team if he does make the move during the summer transfer window.
