According to a recent report from Sky Germany, Italian champions Juventus are set to miss out on the signing of Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi. The centre-back would’ve been signed as a replacement for Giorgio Chiellini, who wound up suffering a fairly serious knee injury over the weekend. They are said to have enquired about a series of top stars including Medhi Benatia, Dejan Lovren and Jerome Boateng, but Mustafi was also believed to have caught their eye. However, it seems unlikely that they’ll get the deal over the finish line, with the general belief being that the 9pm timeframe in which they need to finish the deal in isn’t realistic.
Mustafi hasn’t featured for Arsenal throughout the early portion of the Premier League season, with many fans and pundits alike not believing that he is good enough to feature in the club’s starting XI.
Which, in a way, makes this possible move all the more strange.
