Juventus to open talks with Aguero; Valencia star hints at summer move

Juventus to open talks for Aguero

Juventus officials are set to meet representatives of Atletico Madrid striker Kun Aguero later today, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta will meet today in Turin with Jose Segui, one of Aguero’s agents, to discuss the possible transfer.

The meeting will serve as an opportunity to start negotiations regarding Sergio Aguero, but also to talk about the future of Mohamed Sissoko, who is also represented by Segui.

After club president Andrea Agnelli announced that he would allocate significant funds for transfers in the next transfer window, the Bianconeri are ready to splash the cash on a world-class forward.

The Argentine’s contract with Atletico doesn’t run out before June 2014, but Juventus will have the opportunity to match his buyout clause which now stands at €45 million.

Aguero is earning €5.5 million per season at the moment, which shouldn’t be a problem for the Bianconeri, meaning that the transfer could be agreed even before this season ends.

The Argentine forward has progressed a great deal during five years he spent at Atletico and Juventus could definitely use his impressive goalscoring abilities in an attempt to return to the old glory days.

Valencia star hints at summer move

Valencia midfielder Hedwiges Maduro has revealed that he could leave los Che at the end of the season.

The Dutch utility player has a one year left on his contract with Valencia, but admits he has club’s approval to leave the club at the end of the season.

“Valencia are ready to open talks if an interested club makes an offer,” Maduro told Voetbal International.

“Eight players have contracts that expire in the summer of 2012 and they don’t want us to leave on Bosman moves.

“They want to cash in on me or want me to sign a new deal. I could stay with Valencia for two additional seasons.

“I’m open to move away from Valencia if a good club comes up. I’ll stay put though if nothing happens.”

Despite arriving to Mestalla as a Holland international, Hedwiges Maduro has had a mixed success at Valencia and maybe a fresh challenge will help him get his career back on track.

West Brom desperate to keep hold of Brunt

West Brom are set to offer captain Chris Brunt a significant pay rise in order to ward off interest from big Premier League clubs.

The Middlesbrough graduate has been an integral part of the West Brom side that managed to ensure survival, while his impressive midfield performances haven’t gone unnoticed.

Liverpool’s director of football strategy Damien Comolli is keen on the Northern Ireland international and could make a big as he looks to reinforce the Reds’ midfield.

Aston Villa have also shown interest in the 26-year-old as they slowly prepare for life without Ashley Young.

However, West Brom manager Roy Hodgson is ready to offer Brunt a new bumper deal as he is eager to keep hold of his key player.

The Baggies are also hoping to tie down Peter Odemwingie and Abdoulaye Meite to new long term deals.

“At the moment, we have spoken internally about plans and ideas, but if it was up to me I would not want to make any wholesale changes,” Hodgson was quoted as saying.

It is more than evident that the experienced manager is perfectly happy with the squad he has at his disposal and should he manage to keep hold of star players like Brunt, Odemwingie and Dorrans, West Brom could play a major role in the next Premiership campaign.
