Panionios striker Alvaro Recoba has revealed that Juventus tried to sign him when he instead joined Inter from Nacional in 1997.
Recoba decided to join Inter due to the amount of competition for the places up front at Juventus at the time.
“When I played in Uruguay, I had two offers,” Recoba told Canal +
“One was from Inter and the other came from Juventus. I chose to move to Inter because at the time, Juve had many champions playing for them and I thought I would have less of a chance to play.
“A week later, Inter signed Ronaldo…”
Recoba spent 11 years in the Serie A before joining Greek side Panionios.
