Italian press, Corriere dello Sport, have reported that Juventus are set to offer cash plus Tiago Mendes to Bayern Munich in the hope of signing German winger, Bastian Schweinsteiger
The Bianconeri are working feverishly in the hope of signing a top class midfielder ahead of next season with Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso, Inter’s Dejan Stankovic and Roma’s Alberto Aquilani all being linked with the club in recent reports.
However, the Corriere says that Juve have now stepped up their efforts to sign 23 year old Schweinsteiger who has hugely impressed for Germany at Euro 2008, scoring in both the quarter final and semi final.
However, Juventus face quite a battle as Schweinsteiger is also wanted by Milan and a host of Premier League teams. Moreover, the player recently admitted that England was his favored destination.
