Juventus have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea, though it has been said that their interest will only turn to concrete action should they part ways with Dusan Vlahovic. Now, however, The Times are reporting that the Bianconeri want the Belgian striker on loan for the upcoming season, with an option to buy at the end of the proposed spell.
Lukaku has been left behind as Chelsea traveled for their pre-season tour of the USA, seeking to sort his future out. Inter Milan, where he spent last season on loan, were keen on a permanent deal until they learned that Juventus were in the conversation as well. Then they felt betrayed and pulled out, leaving the 30-year-old with the possibility of going to Juventus, or changing his mind after rejecting an offer from Saudi Arabia.
Even the latter possibly isn’t an option anymore, with Al-Hilal reportedly on the verge of signing Aleksandar Mitrovic from Fulham.
Lukaku is under contract with Chelsea until 2026, and it remains to be seen whether they feel a loan deal is acceptable from the London club’s point of view.
