Kaboul: Spurs back on track

Younes Kaboul praised Tottenhan’s performance in their 3-1 English Premier League victory over Wigan on Tuesday.

Centre-back Kaboul called the win a return to the ‘quality football’ missing during Spurs’ 1-0 FA Cup victory over Watford last Friday.

Tottenham are now just five points behind joint-leaders Manchester City and Manchester United in the title race, after a Gareth Bale brace either side of Luka Modric’s goal eased the home side to victory at White Hart Lane.

Kaboul added that his side’s focus remained on their own performances rather than those of their rivals, as City slipped to defeat at Everton.

“We played very good football tonight again,” he said.

“It was not easy but from the start we played quality football and we scored early.”

“We are playing at home and we lost last week to Man City, we didn’t play very well against Watford, so tonight we had to play quality football once more.”

The win over Wigan was timely given City’s 1-0 reverse at Goodison Park, but Kaboul insisted the Spurs players are more concerned with their own results as they continue to chase the leaders.

“We don’t watch what happens with the other teams. We just look at ourselves,” he said.

“The only danger is for us, no-one else. As long as we win the games there will be no problem.”

“We don’t really watch what happens above us or below us, we just play football to win and take three points every game.”

Next up is a trip to face Liverpool on Monday, with Kaboul confident Spurs can get the better of Kenny Dalglish’s side at Anfield.

“Next Monday is going to be a massive game against Liverpool,” he said.

“At the moment they are a very good team. We have to go there to have good ambitions and just try to take three points.”
