(GSM) – Kaiserslautern ensured their ascension to the German top flight on Sunday after Augsburg’s 1-1 draw with FSV Frankfurt gave assured them one of the two automatic berths.
Kaiserslautern lost 1-0 at Hansa Rostock on Friday, but Augsburg’s draw left them seven points back in third place with just two matches left to play.
Kaiserslautern have not been in the top flight of the Bundesliga since finishing third from bottom in the 2005/06 season.
This season, Slovakian international Erik Jendrisek has led the way with 14 goals for Kaiserslautern.
St. Pauli are three points up on Augusburg for the second promotion berth, while the third-placed team will face a playoff with the 16th-placed team from the top flight.
